Acupuncture & Meridian Therapy

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been recognised for many years as a complementing practice in physiotherapy. Over the last decade its acceptance and use by physiotherapists has increased considerably. This may be due to better understanding of the way acupuncture influences the body. It has a balancing and regulating effect on overall body systems as well as a local therapeutic effect.

Acupuncture is beneficial for both chronic and acute conditions. Some of the conditions that a physiotherapist might treat with acupuncture are: sprains and strains, spinal dysfunction, arthritis, neurological conditions. Fine, sterile and disposable needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to stimulate the flow of Qi. The treatments are painless and relaxing, with excellent outcomes often extending beyond muscle relaxation and pain relief.

GuaSha & Cupping Therapy is also integrated if blood stagnation is diagnosed. Blood stagnation is a chronic form of stagnation that causes pain and stiffness in the myofascia.

AcuGraph

Sometimes our energy becomes flat. Stress, injury, infection, surgery, childbirth, travel, exams etc all can leave their mark on our energetic reserves. At EastWest we offer energetic therapies that will get you back on track. Diagnosis is assisted by use of our Acugraph software.
AcuGraph’s evidence-based approach to acupuncture is a categorical improvement in acupuncture care. Evidence-based care means you have real-time insight into meridian energetics and to make better treatment decisions for improved patient outcomes.

Exam

AcuGraph gathers its information in a simple, two-minute exam, with measurement points located on the hands and feet. Traditional energetic diagnostic methods may also be used such as abdominal and pulse palpation.

Results

AcuGraph displays exam results in graph style designed to convey precise information in an easy-to-read format. It enables the practitioner a great insight into which meridians need treatment.
